Biomedical Sciences
The Biomedical Sciences major is optimally designed for students interested in biomedical research and related career tracks. This novel program introduces students to the excitement of scientific inquiry in an interdisciplinary group setting and integrates this with a solid foundation in the basic sciences. Students receive substantial exposure to the research environment with ‘hands on’ experience throughout the program and exposure to the latest experimental techniques and approaches. The program is limited to a relatively small number of highly motivated students with strong academic records.
The Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) program offers an undergraduate degree designed to introduce students to the full spectrum of health research - from Cell to Society. This research-intensive honours program gives students the opportunity to interact with internationally recognized researchers. Beginning in their first year of study, students work in first-class facilities. This program involves small group learning, designed to instill core problem-solving and communication skills essential to research. The program culminates in an honours thesis, where students conduct their own self directed research.

Projects that Biomedical Sciences students could work on include:
-
Mapping stem cell formation
-
Identifying potential protein markers for specific diseases
-
Understanding how cancer cells grow and spread
-
Identifying how blood cells help fight infection
